EDITORIAL
Let me start by welcoming you to what was the first issue of "TIME SCREEN" in 1989. The main feature of this issue is the second half of Neil Alsop's SURVIVORS article, the first half appearing the previous year in "Issue 10". I was sent the article six months before but it was only in this issue that I was able to find enough space to do the feature justice.
Talking of anniversaries, at the time this was first published the time was drawing near for the regular "TIME SCREEN" convention, the Time Screen Treasure Hunt. The event, which is still going, is a weekend devoted to the popular 60's and 70's television series such as THE AVENGERS and THE PRISONER which were filmed around the Elstree and Borehamwood area. On the Saturday of the event we all climb into our cars and tour the locations used in these series followed by quizzes and presentations which go on to the wee small hours. Sunday sees the main event of the weekend, the Treasure Hunt itself. Everybody is divided into twelve teams, given a set of cryptic instructions and a map and told to get on with it. Each team drives off around the Hertfordshire countryside in search of clues and items of treasure, the teams accumulating the most points returning to accolades and one or two prizes.
'Golly gosh!' I hear you say, 'When is this event and how can I apply for it?'. Ask no more; this event is held every year.
So much for the commercials. Oh by the way, the article by Michael Richardson on page 32 will give you some idea of the locations we will be driving through in May or June. It was Mike who did all the original research for the first treasure hunt in 1987. He has spent many weekends touring the area, but he has obviously not been able to find every location used in all the television series made there. So if any of our readers have spotted a village, building or section of road used in a series which Mike has not mentioned, could they please get in touch. In fact, we are always on the lookout for locations used in any British Telefantasy series. So if you know of any location that we may not know about, could you also get in touch. We may even get a few follow-up articles on the subject.
Stay Alert,

Anthony McKay
