Folk Tales from Norway
with Sonja Nerdrum

0818 The Blue Belt 04:40pm-04:55pm Monday, 20th October 1969
‘The Student Factory’ is what Peter Christen Asbjørnsen and Jørgen Moe called their school near Oslo, and they had to work very hard there. But in any spare time the two boys went off on long country walks and as they went along they swapped stories of trolls, brave knights and princesses. Years later, in 1845, their first collection of Norwegian folk tales was published and the stories are still great favourites of children in Norway.

This week Sonja Nerdrum will be telling five of them.

Next week: ‘The Saturday Man’ by Roy Brown.
