  Once upon a time children spent the Winter afternoons playing with their own toy theatres. The young Winston Churchill was among those who cut out familiar characters and acted their dramas on a miniature stage. This week Bernard Cribbins raises the curtain on some old stage favourites. (Toy theatres and cut-out figures from Pollock’s Toy Theatres.)

There was no edition of Jackanory on Boxing Day, due to the film When Comedy Was King being shown between 3:45pm and 5:05pm.
